My Adventure
My house has an unwanted occupant. Nothing scary, just annoying. Something has been repeatedly triggering a motion sensor in my house. 3 times in the 2 weeks!! Usually I'm out of town for various reasons, but this time I was just at work so I came right over (with back-up of course).
After much discussion and snooping we're thinking it's rodents of some sort. YUCK! Perhaps mice but more likely a bat. I'm thinking it goes off when a bat swoops by. So, I bought lots of mouse traps and Decon and I'm trying to scheme up a way to catch a bat. I have a stairway I don't use often (it leads to the treadmill, and I'm not ready to be friends just with that just yet). So, I can use the stairwell to channel it. So, maybe I can use some netting over the opening and it'll tangle itself in it. (If fish can do it a bat can too, right??) Should the net option work I can come home find it trapped and safely hit it with a tennis racket. Yes. Good plan.
Skeptically, you ask "do you have any other ideas"? Of course . . . I could always stretch a couple strips of Duck Tape across it the opening. That stuff sticks to everything! Bat sticks, it's caught, swing racket, dead.
Are there any other ideas??
P.S. The hubby is good I got a call not too long ago. And I tried sending him cookies today. I can always blame the post office if they taste funny, but I have faith in Betty Crocker.

You been talking to Joyce about bats and tennis rackets? If not, ask her. She has a really funny story that involves kids.
Good luck with the bat. You're much braver than I am. :)
I hate bats! They scare the s**t out of me. Keep us posted!
We just charge our bats rent.
Um, my mom brings them in on the laundry at least once a summer. Try a fishing net, but make sure it's the holes aren't too big or they fly out. Or I think JR told me he caught on in a towel one time.
Be careful though, I know two people who got bit by bats!
We had a bat in our room in the dorms. We (ok, not me, but some boys) caught it in a bucket and then let it go outside.
do not get meghan started about rodents, never let her tell you about at Fort Drum..... ;) (she is not gonna read this is she :))
yes, I read it! oh, you are in trouble now! We had mice making a nest in our outside dryer vent at Ft. Drum. I've never screamed as loudly as when I saw that mama mouse scurry across the laundry room floor. I actually jumped up on top of the washing machine. I carried a nightstick around for weeks, just in case. You know those mice...they like to try to purse-snatch and stuff. Little thugs.
Have you gotten rid of the bat yet? Hope all goes well...
Hey Dana-
hope you had fun with Randall, you look super cute in the pics Crystal put up. Let us know how you're doing and if the bats have been destroyed!
